The UTSA Board of Regents officially approved a new contract for head coach Frank Wilson on Thursday, keeping the 43-year-old with the program through the 2021 season.

"We are very excited about the leadership that Coach Wilson has brought to our football program and athletic department as a whole," athletic director Lynn Hickey said in a statement. "Our objective is to be a dominant player in Conference USA, and making a commitment to Coach Wilson is an intentional step in ensuring that we become a program of excellence."

The deal, which had been rumored for a few days, will see Wilson earn $1,050,000 in 2017, the highest salary in Conference USA.

Wilson has long been regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country after stops at LSU, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. He took the Roadrunners to their first bowl game in program history in his first season with the school.

While the deal keeps Wilson under contract through the 2021 season, it won't be surprising to see him receive a great deal of interest from Power 5 programs should he keep UTSA rolling in the right direction.
