Cano leaves game with hamstring injury after hitting double

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

This is the last thing the Seattle Mariners needed.

Robinson Cano, the Mariners' All-Star second baseman, was forced to exit Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves with what was later revealed to be left hamstring tightness after hitting a third-inning double off R.A. Dickey.

Cano appeared to pull up as he ran down the first-base line and slowly limped into second base before exiting the field with trainers.

After the game, Mariners manager Scott Servais told Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune that Cano is being considered day to day with the injury.

Per MyNorthwest.com's Shannon Drayer, Cano will undergo an MRI on his ailing hamstring on Thursday.

Cano is hitting .274/.334/.454 with 19 home runs for the Mariners this season, numbers that earned him his eighth career All-Star berth this past July.

Before leaving the game Cano hit a pair of doubles, upping his career total to 507 and moving him past Babe Ruth into 57th place on the all-time doubles list, per Greg Johns of MLB.com.

Seattle entered play Wednesday sitting two games behind Minnesota for the second AL wild-card spot with a 64-63 record.
