The College Football Playoff selection committee will be replacing six members after this season, and one man who may be interested in a spot is Bob Stoops.

The legendary Oklahoma coach, who shockingly resigned in June after 18 seasons with the program, told ESPN's Heather Dinich on Wednesday that it "would be a great opportunity" to join the committee.

"I guess I would have to do a lot of visiting with people on what all the commitment would be, and what the expectations would be," Stoops said, "but it'd sure be worth the listen."

One of the six members stepping away after this season is committee chairman Kirby Hocutt of Texas Tech. Stoops' familiarity with the Big 12 would make him an ideal replacement on the 13-member panel.

The Sooners were selected for the CFP semis in 2015 before bowing out to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

The committee will announce its new members in January.
