Real Madrid fans will get a chance to watch Cristiano Ronaldo in action for the first time since his controversial dismissal during the Spanish Super Cup when Los Blancos take on Fiorentina during the Trofeo Bernabeu on Sunday.

Supporters were deprived of a chance to see Ronaldo in the opening weekend of the Liga season after he was issued a five-match ban for pushing the match official during Real Madrid's first-leg win over Barcelona.

Zidane confirmed Wednesday that Ronaldo, along with other players who are desperate to get some minutes under their belts, will feature heavily in the weekend's exhibition tie.

"We're in good shape fitness-wise and there are players like Cristiano Ronaldo who are going to start the game and play the full 90 minutes," Zidane told reporters, according to Dermot Corrigan of ESPN FC. "We want the trophy to remain here and we're aiming to put in a good performance."

The annual encounter at Real Madrid's home ground honours the club's former president, whom the Santiago Bernabeu is named after.

"It's an important game for the fans," Zidane said. "This year it falls after the first La Liga matchday and we'll be trying to deliver a good performance, but above all, we'll be looking to ensure that the players get more playing time under their belts."

Although he's eligible to play Sunday, Ronaldo will be held out of La Liga action until Sept. 20, when Zinedine Zidane's men take on Real Betis.
