Art Briles may not be coaching again, but he appears to be involved in college football in a minor role: His son Kendal Briles and Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin both confirmed the former Baylor coach is informally helping out with the Owls' offense.

"Obviously, he has ideas," offensive coordinator Kendal told Matthew DeFranks of the Sun-Sentinel. "He wants to know personnel and different guys and making sure we're getting those guys in the right spots and getting them touches and all that stuff. He's a football coach, that's all he's ever been. He's definitely involved and we talk daily."

Art orchestrated one of the most prolific offenses in the country during his time with the Bears, but lost his job in the wake of a sexual assault scandal that rocked the school. When Kiffin was hired as head coach, one of his first moves was to bring Kendal to Florida Atlantic as offensive coordinator.

While Kiffin's contact with Art is less frequent than Kendal's, he admitted he does occasionally use the veteran coach as a sounding board.

"Obviously, he's done unbelievable things on offense," Kiffin said. "... Every once in a while, I'll text him or call him and bounce something off him."

Kiffin has his work cut out for him with FAU's offense - that unit ranked 80th in the country last season in points per game.
