The Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly agreed to a minor-league deal with starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

The 27-year-old right-hander was non-tendered by the Miami Marlins following the 2015 season after undergoing shoulder surgery. The Oakland Athletics later agreed to a one-year deal with Alvarez, who pitched in the minor leagues before requiring another shoulder surgery.

Over three seasons with the Marlins, Alvarez posted a 3.23 ERA and 3.47 FIP, including a no-hitter in the final game of 2013.

Prior to his deal with the Phillies, the 2014 All-Star was pitching with the independent league's Long Island Ducks.

The Phillies' rotation has collectively posted a 4.75 ERA and 4.78 FIP while relying on 10 different pitchers throughout the 2017 campaign. Only Aaron Nola and Jerah Eickhoff have eclipsed the 100-inning mark, although former Philadelphia starter Jeremy Hellickson had reached that benchmark before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles.

Alvarez is expected to report to Triple-A, according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.
