Scotland's most expensive player is being linked with a return to England.

With just over a week left in the summer window, Crystal Palace has identified Oliver Burke as one of its top transfer targets, with the Premier League club contemplating a move for the RB Leipzig winger that could cost around £15 million, according to Dominic Fifield of the Guardian.

A move to Palace would reunite the 20-year-old with the team's sporting director Dougie Freedman following their time together with Nottingham Forest. Freedman was manager of Forest when the club agreed to ship Burke off to Germany in 2015 after accepting an offer worth £13 million - a record transfer fee for a Scottish player.

Despite some success in early in the 2016-17 campaign, Burke struggled for playing time as manager Ralph Hasenhüttl opted to deploy virtually the same starting XI week after week as the 20-year-old found himself as a fixture on the bench.

Last week, Burke was mentioned by Palace manager Frank de Boer as one of the club's "many" transfer targets, with the Dutchman emphasizing the importance of having British players in his squad.

"He is a very young, promising Scottish player of course," De Boer said ahead of Saturday's match away to Liverpool.

"He had a great year at Leipzig, though he didn't play in all the matches.

"He is from Great Britain, so it is always interesting to see those kinds of players and he is still very young. Maybe - but we are also focusing on other players.

Roma goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupsk is believed to be another priority, while Palace is also thought to be focusing its attention on possibly luring Munir El Haddadi away from Barcelona.
