Watch: Braves' Albies epically fails to turn 4-3 double play

Where's Harry Doyle when you need him?

Atlanta Braves shortstop Ozzie Albies was perhaps a little too anxious to turn a 4-3 double play against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. Albies fielded Mitch Haniger's ground ball cleanly and stepped on second to force Kyle Seager, but his attempt to throw Haniger out at first didn't go so well. The ball flew out of Albies' hand and ended up at home plate.

Haniger inadvertently saved Albies from a little more embarrassment on the play, as his discarded bat actually stopped the ball from rolling to the backstop. Thus, the rookie infielder was able to have a good chuckle afterwards - though you can be sure his veteran teammates won't let him forget about this one for a long time.
