Giants' Bochy calls Phillies reliever Neris an 'idiot' for hitting Posey

San Francisco Giants skipper Bruce Bochy has no time for Hector Neris after the Philadelphia Phillies reliever plunked Buster Posey with a pitch during Sunday's game.

"I'll say it, he's an idiot," Bochy told reporters Monday. "He showed it in Philadelphia when having words with (Eduardo) Nunez."

Neris drew the ire of the Giants when he hit Posey in the ribs with a 95-mph fastball during the eighth inning. Neris said that there was no chance the pitch was intentional as it loaded the bases, though Posey thought otherwise.

"I'm pretty certain he hit me on purpose," Posey said after the game, according to Jonathan Hawthorne and Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. "It's just a shame because I wanted to compete in that at-bat. I guess he didn't feel like he could get me out."

Neris, who has hit four batters in 57 appearances this season, would get Pablo Sandoval to strike out swinging in the following at-bat to escape the inning.

"I didn't want to put the game on the line. … I don't want to hit anybody in that situation," Neris said. "It's stupid because nobody watched that and said, 'He hit him on purpose in that situation.'"
