Report: Mbappe dropped from training last week after bust-up with teammate

An altercation with a teammate apparently forced AS Monaco to drop coveted forward Kylian Mbappe from a recent training session.

News of the reported fallout follows Mbappe's exclusion from Monaco's win Friday against Metz, as manager Leonardo Jardim seemingly opted to rest the 18-year-old amid rampant speculation over his future.

It's understood Mbappe clashed with teammate Andrea Raggi last Tuesday, with the pair trading insults before Mbappe was told to leave the session, French newspaper L'Equipe reports, as translated by ESPN FC.

The report adds Mbappe refused to leave the pitch, forcing Monaco players to resume drills on another field at the team's training centre.

It was later decided he would not feature in Friday's 1-0 win, but whether that decision was related to his altercation with Raggi has not been disclosed.

Jardim's reasoning for Mbappe's absence from the team sheet was that he didn't want to risk the French forward, who he believed was "not 100 percent."

Mbappe also missed Monaco's win over Dijon the previous week in order to, as Jardim said, "protect him" amid mounting speculation over his future with the club. Reports have linked him with lucrative transfers to clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Monaco will look to maintain its perfect start to the season in Sunday's home encounter against Marseille.
