Watch: Rangers' Gallo, Bush leave game after nasty collision

Ray Carlin / USA TODAY Sports

After Joey Gallo and Matt Bush collided while trying to field a pop-up in the eighth inning of the Texas Rangers contest against the Chicago White Sox, both players were forced to leave the game.

On what seemed like a pretty routine pop-up off the bat of Nicky Delmonico to the left side of the infield, Gallo and Bush collided while trying to make the play. Bush made the catch, while Gallo's face came into contact with the side of his head.

After trainers tended to Gallo, who was bleeding profusely, the Rangers third baseman was taken off the field. Following that, Bush was also removed from the game after trainers examined his head and right leg.

Bush left with what the team described as a right knee bruise, while Gallo will undergo precautionary x-rays after leaving with swelling of the nose and upper lip according to the team's executive vice president of communications John Blake.

Phil Gosselin replaced Gallo at third base while Jason Grilli came in for Bush after he had thrown just five pitches.
