Grigor Dimitrov finally captured his first ATP Masters title.
The seventh-seeded Bulgarian defeated Nick Kyrgios 6-3, 7-5 to win the Western & Southern Open on Sunday in Cincinnati.
Dimitrov controlled the match with strong service, continuing a positive trend that saw him broken just once in the past week. He limited Kyrgios to only two break chances, denying him both times, en route to a convincing victory in under 90 minutes.
He stretched out to smash a clinical forehand winner past Kyrgios to win the last game.
Dimitrov was all smiles in the postmatch interview.
"I'm pretty confident after this win ... My biggest so far," Dimitrov said while grinning from ear to ear. "I'll enjoy it for a day or two and then set my sights on the U.S. Open."
