Jovon Durante leaves West Virginia, transferring to FAU

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

Wide receiver Jovon Durante is transferring to Florida Atlantic after two seasons at West Virginia, he announced Saturday.

Durante was on track to enter the 2017 season as West Virginia's second-leading returning receiver, though he'd been absent from camp due to "personal issues," casting doubt over his status with the program.

An undergraduate, Durante will sit out the 2017 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. He'll have two years of eligibility upon reinstatement.

Durante joins a Florida Atlantic program led by first-year coach Lane Kiffin, who's made no secret of his desire to add talent however possible.

Kiffin acquired receiver/quarterback John Franklin III from Auburn and ex-Oklahoma quarterback Chris Robison on Tuesday via transfers, and has brought in several other players this offseason that once seemed destined for standout careers at high-profile schools.

Durante recorded 59 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns across two campaigns with the Mountaineers.
