Cousins joins chorus looking to take down Confederate statues

USA Today Sports

DeMarcus Cousins has joined the ranks of athletes calling for the removal of statues and memorials dedicated in honor of Confederate soldiers.

"Take all them motherf---ers down. Take them all down," Cousins told TMZ.

With tensions rising in the wake of a violent weekend of white supremacist rallies and counter-protests in Charlottesville, Va., some of the most influential voices in sports have come out against the divisiveness inherent in the controversial monuments.

After a press conference in which President Donald Trump appeared to suggest there were "very fine people" among the white supremacist demonstrators in Charlottesville, many of whom were emblazoned with the iconography of neo-Nazi groups and the Ku Klux Klan, LeBron James accused Trump of making hate "fashionable again."

Additionally, reigning Finals MVP Kevin Durant said he would not visit the White House if the Golden State Warriors are invited, stating that he doesn't "respect who's in office right now."
