Tanner Ainge, the 33-year-old son of Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, conceded defeat Tuesday in a Republican primary election for a recently vacated congressional seat in Utah.

Tanner, who describes himself as a conservative Republican, finished third behind Provo, Utah mayor John Curtis and Christopher Herrod. In June, Tanner warned Gordon Hayward via Twitter about Massachusetts' "millionaire's tax" before the forward left the Jazz to sign with his dad's Celtics.

Tanner, like his father, attended BYU. His younger brother, Crew, will make his college basketball debut for Utah State this season, and is best known for dunking on his dad.
