Tiger-Cats sign Andy Fantuz after recovery from ACL injury
Wide receiver Andy Fantuz signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Monday as he gets closer to returning from a torn ACL, the team announced.
The 33-year-old, who's been out since the end of October 2016 because of the injury, signed a practice roster agreement, but figures to earn a promotion to the active roster sooner rather than later.
Fantuz has spent this season working as a coordinator of player development for the Tiger-Cats while rehabbing his knee.
The native Canadian has spent the last five seasons in Hamilton, and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in receiving last year for the second time in his career.
The former Most Outstanding Canadian joins a Tiger-Cats team fighting for a playoff spot despite sitting in the basement of the CFL standings.
