Things are getting worse for San Diego State as the chickenpox outbreak that recently hit the team has jumped from three players to five, Kirk Kenney of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Aztecs head coach Rocky Long was forced to cancel practice Monday as a precautionary measure.

"We're canceling practice so that they can thoroughly clean the weight room and locker room and disinfect it so that we can have a clean environment tomorrow morning to help the spread of the virus," Long said. "There are five confirmed cases now and, hopefully, this will help stop the spread of it. I'm sure it will. … This will eliminate it being in there tomorrow morning."

So far the football team has been the only group to be impacted, but the weight room is shared with several other sports at the school.

Aztecs offensive lineman Ryan Pope, and linebackers Tyler Morris and Temerick Harper were the first three to come down with chickenpox. The latest pair were not revealed by Long.

The team is hoping to resume practicing Tuesday.
