Legendary Arkansas coach, AD Frank Broyles dies at 92

Former Arkansas head coach and athletic director Frank Broyles died Monday at age 92 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease, his family confirmed in a statement Monday.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Coach Frank Broyles. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones," the statement reads. "For 92 years, John Franklin Broyles lived nothing short of a remarkable life. To all who would listen, Frank Broyles was quick to proclaim, in his unmistakable and infectious southern tone, that he was blessed to live 'A Charmed Life.'"

After a single season as head coach at Missouri, Broyles built a legendary career as head coach at Arkansas from 1958-76, winning seven conference titles and a national championship in 1964.

He also took on the role of athletic director at Arkansas in 1974, a position he held until announcing his retirement in 2007.

Broyles was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983, and was honored again with the creation of the Broyles Award, given annually to the top assistant coach in college football.
