The Miami Marlins and Marlins Park could be in for a bit of a makeover should Derek Jeter and his group officially buy the club.

Once the sale becomes official, the sculpture behind the center field wall at Marlins Park will likely be removed, sources told Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

The $2.5-million Red Grooms sculpture has been highly criticized since it was unveiled in 2012 when the stadium opened.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria signed an agreement to sell the team for $1.2 billion to a group led by Jeter this week. At least 75 percent of MLB clubs must approve the sale before it can become official.
