Mayweather Promotions CEO: 'We have over $60M in the box office'

While the fight hasn't yet sold out, Floyd Mayweather's and Conor McGregor's paychecks are not in doubt.

After an open workout Thursday, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said the fight is on pace to break boxing's all-time gate record and explained that tickets to the event aren't priced to be sold quickly.

"Right now, we have over $60 million in the box office," Ellerbe said, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell. "And you tell me, what part of that remotely looks like ticket sales are slow. This isn't a damn Rolling Stones concert. That's the only thing that sells out in seconds.

"When you are talking about tickets going from $500 to $10,000, that's an expensive ticket. So you have every CEO from every major company. You know, guys, it takes time to plan and get it together."

Ellerbe also said the $60 million in tickets sold is "more than double" what Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin have made for their bout on Sept. 16.

There are still over 4,700 tickets available on the resale market as of Thursday, according to Rovell.
