Mets' Harvey 'on track' for rehab assignment

It's been a while since New York Mets fans saw Matt Harvey toe the rubber in Citi Field, but the wait might be coming to an end shortly.

Harvey has been on the disabled list since suffering a scapula bone injury in his right shoulder on June 14, but the 28-year-old threw live batting practice to Mets hitters on Tuesday and a rehab assignment shouldn't be far away.

"I'm on track to get back hopefully pretty soon," Harvey told Anthony DiComo of MLB.com on Tuesday. "My goal is to get back out there as soon as I can."

"It's nice to get on the mound again," Harvey told Matt Ehlat of The Record. "Everything felt great."

Harvey was in the midst of the worst season of his young career, pitching to an ERA of 5.25 and a 1.45 WHIP in 13 starts before sustaining the shoulder injury.
