Report: Bale told he's future of Real Madrid; will try to buy Mbappe next year

A transfer to Manchester United reportedly isn't in the cards for Gareth Bale.

Bale was assured he's Real Madrid's future, and that Los Blancos won't try to buy Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco until next summer, according to the Guardian's Jamie Jackson. The Welsh forward is apparently content with the club and keen to see out his contract, which ends in 2022 and, at around £350,000 per week, made him the highest-paid footballer on the planet.

United allegedly holds a continued interest in Bale, and Jose Mourinho wants the product of Southampton to be the Red Devils' fourth signing of the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the player was told by Real Madrid that, although Los Blancos have a firm interest in Mbappe, they're unlikely to attempt signing the French sensation in the near future. Cristiano Ronaldo will be 33 years old in February, and Wales' hero is in the Spanish club's long-term plans.

Marca's Carlos Carpio reported on Thursday that Zinedine Zidane only wants Mbappe if Bale is sold. Negotiations between Real Madrid over the teenager's transfer are reportedly slowing down, as the manager doesn't believe the youngster is compatible with Los Blancos' BBC. Florentino Perez, the club's president, apparently attended a meeting in mid-July where a starting point of €190 million was established for the negotiation of the adolescent.

In June, Bale insisted he had no intention of leaving Real Madrid, saying: "I've signed a long-term contract at Madrid. My family is happy and I am happy, so, yeah, we will continue what we are doing. We are winning trophies and I am happy."

Bale endured an injury-plagued season in 2016-17, tallying 19 appearances in La Liga and eight appearances in the Champions League as Real Madrid won the double for the first time in 59 years.

Mbappe suffered an apparent leg injury as Monaco returned to Ligue 1 with a 3-2 victory over Toulouse, but Leonardo Jardim said "it's nothing serious" after the game.
