Oklahoma dismisses QB Chris Robison for violating team rules

Mark D. Smith / USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma's quarterback depth took a hit Wednesday as head coach Lincoln Riley announced Chris Robison has been dismissed for violating team rules.

Robison was a four-star recruit in the Sooners' 2017 class and had enrolled in school early to get better acclimated for the upcoming season. He was ranked as the 10th-best dual-threat quarterback in the country, and the 266th overall prospect by ESPN.

The Texas native was arrested for public intoxication April 9, but it's unclear whether the dismissal is related to that incident.

With Baker Mayfield returning for his senior season and Kyler Murray now eligible after transferring from Texas A&M, parting with Robison won't hurt the Sooners this season, but will affect future recruiting plans.

Oklahoma opens the 2017 season at home against UTEP on Sept. 2.
