Blue Jays' Sanchez on blisters: 'I'm slamming the door on all this s---'

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Aaron Sanchez was rather candid in his last media session on Monday, a day after he was shut down for the rest of the season due to constant blister related issues.

"I'm trying to take care of that now, because when I pick up a ball I'm slamming the door on all this shit that happened this year," Sanchez told John Lott of the Athletic. "I don't even want to look at my finger any more."

Although it was a nagging blister that resulted in last season's American League ERA leader pitching in only eight games this year, it was revealed that the issue led to a ligament strain in the middle finger of the same hand.

After visiting another hand specialist, it was determined that Sanchez would need four-to-six weeks to recover from the strain.

"I let them know if this is the time that there's something that we can do with the nail, do it now, right? I'm not doing anything. So that's the solution we're working to find out right now," he said.

"Nothing's set in stone. I know we're back and forth with a few hand specialists to find out what the solution can be for this problem. The only reason why this pulley strain came up was because of the blister."

In only 36 innings this season, Sanchez pitched to a 4.25 ERA with 20 walks and 24 strikeouts.
