The Los Angeles Dodgers decided to err on the side of caution with prized deadline acquisition Yu Darvish who continues to deal with back tightness. On Saturday, manager Dave Roberts said Darvish will be placed on the 10-day disabled list, according to Alanna Rizzo of SportsNet LA.

The injury isn't considered serious, however, with the team tentatively planning to start him next Sunday at home against the Milwaukee Brewers.

"My initial reaction after the last outing was that I felt like I could make the next start," Darvish said on Saturday, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

"However, after talking to the team and consulting with the doctor, I understand their concern and I respect that opinion."

In his first start in front of the Dodgers faithful, Darvish mysteriously left in the seventh inning before throwing a pitch. It was later revealed that Darvish, who had already surrendered three home runs, informed teammate Clayton Kershaw - also on the mend with a back injury - he was dealing with back tightness.

It led Kershaw to convince Darvish to come out of the game with Kershaw saying: "We need you really bad in six weeks."

In three starts since being acquired at the trade deadline, Darvish has a 2.50 ERA with four walks and 22 strikeouts.
