When Adrian Beltre reached second base after recording his 3,000th career hit Sunday afternoon he was mobbed by both his family and his Texas Rangers teammates in celebration.

That was only the start.

Although the Rangers dropped a 10-6 decision Sunday to the Baltimore Orioles, the mood in the home clubhouse at Globe Life Park was still festive thanks to Beltre's historic moment. In celebration of his achievement, the Rangers had a few gifts waiting for the 38-year-old after the game.

A painting of Beltre, created by local artist Vernon Wells - father of the former All-Star outfielder - was commissioned and unveiled in the clubhouse postgame.

There was also a celebratory round of scotch, with a specially-ordered bottle of Johnnie Walker that came engraved with a congratulatory message and the flag of the Dominican Republic, and delivered in a specially-designed barrel.

The Rangers also posed for a group photo in custom T-shirts made especially for the occasion.

Another gift came from the nearby Fort Worth Zoo, which announced Sunday that its newborn giraffe calf has been named "Beltre" in the third baseman's honor.

It was truly a day to remember in Arlington for everyone involved.
