Report: Rangers shopping Jeremy Jeffress

The Texas Rangers might end up holding onto Yu Darvish and Jonathan Lucroy, but the club appears rather motivated to move reliever Jeremy Jeffress, whom they are actively shopping as Monday's trade deadline nears, rival clubs told ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers at last year's trade deadline, Jeffress has regressed significantly this season, putting up a 5.21 ERA - his worst since 2012 - and 1.68 WHIP over 38 appearances.

Jeffress won't hit free agency until after the 2019 campaign, however, and had been one of the game's most effective relievers prior to this season, authoring a 2.46 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 173 appearances from 2013-2016.

As August approaches, the Rangers remain one of many American League teams vying for a wild-card spot, sitting 4 1/2 games back of the second berth (and 18 games behind the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West).
