Georgia paying Kent State $1.9M for future non-conference date

Win or lose, Kent State is going home with fat paycheck for its 2022 non-conference game against Georgia.

The Golden Flashes will receive a whopping $1.9 million from the SEC school for making the trip from Ohio to Athens for the contest, according to a game contract obtained by Marc Weiszer from the Athens Banner-Herald.

It's just the latest in a number of massive payouts Georgia will make to non-conference opponents. Middle Tennessee is getting $1.7 million for a 2018 game, while Arkansas State's sum will be $1.8 million for a 2019 contest.

The two schools have met only once, with Georgia thumping Kent State 56-3 in 1998.
