Report: Samardzija won't accept move to team on no-trade list

The San Francisco Giants' list of potential trade partners for Jeff Samardzija has drastically dwindled.

Following his start Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates in which he allowed just one run over seven innings, Samardzija said he would reject any trade to a club listed on his 22-team no-trade list, according to Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News.

The Houston Astros were doing background work on Samardzija earlier this month, though Baggarly reports they are on his no-trade list. The Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, and Washington Nationals are the only clubs he could be traded to without his permission.

Owners of the second-worst record in the majors, the Giants are expected to be sellers prior to the non-waiver deadline and it's believed everyone other than Madison Bumgarner, Buster Posey, and Brandon Crawford is available.

Samardzija is 5-11 with a 4.85 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 146 strikeouts in 135 1/3 innings this season. He's owed $19.8 million in each of the next three seasons.
