Freeze opens up following resignation: 'God is good, even in difficult times'

Hugh Freeze has broken his silence.

The former Ole Miss head coach spoke publicly Wednesday for the first time since handing in his resignation as head football coach and discussed the support he has received from both his faith and his family, according to Josh Peter and Antonio Morales of USA TODAY Sports.

"God is good, even in difficult times," Freeze said. "Wonderful wife and family, and that's my priority."

Freeze also said that despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his resignation, his family is standing by him through it all.

Freeze gave his resignation after a phone call to a number associated with an escort service was discovered on his university-issued cell phone dating back to Jan. 19, 2016. Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork stated last Thursday during a press conference that further investigation uncovered a "pattern of personal misconduct."

By all accounts, Freeze is aware of the effect his actions have made, admitting that he has let his peers down despite their willingness to support him.

"I would expect that," Freeze said.
