Father of dismissed Oregon WR Carrington says son will play at Utah

Darren Carrington's days at Oregon are over, but it appears the receiver isn't finished in the Pac-12 just yet, as his father said his son is joining Utah as a grad transfer.

"The circumstances are definitely not what we planned," the elder Carrington wrote in an email to The Salt Lake Tribune. "However, we are so thankful to Coach Whittingham, Dr. Chris Hill-AD, and the University of Utah for providing Darren with an opportunity to not only finish his college football career, but also for him to be known not just for two bad decisions, but as a man of God."

Carrington, who led the Ducks in receiving last season, was dismissed from the program after an arrest for driving under the influence of intoxicants on July 1. It was the latest in a list of off-field incidents for the talented wideout, including a suspension for the 2015 CFP championship game for reportedly failing a drug test.

During his career at Oregon, Carrington racked up 1,919 receiving yards and 112 catches. He should help a Utah team that struggled in the passing game last season, finishing ninth in the Pac-12 at just 216 yards per game as a unit.

While he's no longer a Duck, Carrington isn't done playing in Oregon just yet, as the Utes travel to their Pac-12 foe on Oct. 28 for a huge road game.
