In a very close race, the Pac-12 media has selected USC over Washington to win the conference title in the annual preseason poll released Wednesday.

The Trojans received 28 votes to win their first title since the conference expanded from 10 to 12 teams in 2011. The last time the storied program won the championship was under Pete Carroll in 2008.

The Huskies received 22 votes from the media to repeat their title from last season, while Oregon and Utah both received one vote each to lift the trophy in December.

In the South Division, USC received 49 first-place votes, while Utah, UCLA, and Colorado each received one.

School Points 1st-place votes
USC 309 49
Utah 220 1
UCLA 209 1
Colorado 182 1
Arizona State 109 0
Arizona 61 0

The majority was the same in the North Division, with the Huskies holding the same amount of first-place votes and Stanford, Washington State, and Oregon each garnering one.

School Points 1st-place votes
Washington 309 49
Stanford 247 1
Washington State 206 1
Oregon 163 1
Oregon State 101 0
Cal 64 0

While USC and Washington fans will be pleased with the results of the poll, the other programs should be feeling lucky. The media picked Stanford and UCLA to contest the Pac-12 title game last season, and neither finished higher than third in the respective divisions.
