Report: Sporting KC attempting to re-acquire Nemeth

Reuters

Having traded Dom Dwyer to Orlando City in a record $1.6-million deal Tuesday, Sporting Kansas City is now looking to orchestrate a trade with the Columbus Crew to acquire the top spot in the allocation order, with an eye on re-acquiring forward Krisztian Nemeth, reports Paul Tenorio of FourFourTwo.

Nemeth, 28, initially joined Sporting Kansas City in 2015 and enjoyed a successful debut season, scoring 11 goals and recording six assists in 29 regular-season and playoff appearances with the club.

But, his story with Peter Vermes' side was cut short as Nemeth then made the switch to Al-Gharafa Sports Club, a team based in Qatar, with Sporting KC receiving two-thirds of his undisclosed transfer fee.

The Hungary international would certainly fit right into Vermes' side, and reportedly harboured regrets over his move away from Kansas City, supposedly telling reporters he would "like to go back to MLS," where they "had a beautiful stadium" that was "sold out every week."

Well, there's no better time than the present.
