The NBA world was left stunned upon hearing the recent news surrounding Kyrie Irving, but Chauncey Billups was not among those surprised to learn of the point guard's trade request.

The former Finals MVP revealed Tuesday he was fully aware of the situation when he interviewed for the Cleveland Cavaliers' then-vacant GM gig, and suggested there are still important details the rest of the NBA community isn't aware of.

"It didn't really surprise me," Billups said on "The Vic Lombardi Show." "Obviously I knew. As they were doing their due diligence on me, I was doing the same thing. I knew so much about the situation that the rest of the world doesn't know."

While he knew about Irving's request, Billups still doesn't understand why the All-Star wants to move to another team, and believes the news should be a red flag for any franchise looking to acquire him.

"That would be alarming to me if I was a team looking to get him because if it’s all about winning - I mean, man, you got a chance to win every single year," Billups said. "And not only that, you’re getting everything you want. You’re getting the shots you want. You’re playing for a great coach who’s letting you go to work. The game’s on the line, they coming to you. You playing on (national) TV every week.

"To me, I don’t get it."

Billups ultimately turned down the Cavaliers' GM position, leading the way for the franchise to promote Koby Altman earlier this week.
