Antonio Cassano is once again set to leave Hellas Verona and is hanging up his boots, the second time that the controversial Italian striker has called it quits on the newly promoted outfit in the last two weeks.

Cassano, 35, joined Hellas as a free agent earlier in the month after briefly retiring from football entirely, but announced on July 18 that he was planning to hang up his boots due to family concerns.

But, later that same day, Cassano reversed his decision and pledged to carry on with Hellas Verona. Now, one week later, Cassano has again left the club, with president Maurizio Setti confirming his departure.

"The guy is not right in his head, even though he is in very good shape physically and athletically," Setti told ANSA.it, as quoted by Sky Sports.

"From a professional point of view, I cannot blame him for anything because he cannot be happy and bubbly in the squad when he wants to be at home. He has his ups and downs, he speaks then he is silent.

"It's a shame because he was doing some good things."

What does the future hold for Cassano? We're not quite sure. He posted a message on his wife's Twitter (since deleted) announcing he is looking for a new team.

"I'm not going to leave football, I just do not feel like I can continue with Hellas Verona," Cassano wrote. "I'm physically well as I showed in the 15 days of training but I'm mentally not stimulated to continue in this club."

But, just a few hours later, he posted a follow-up message, once again retiring from football. And so we wait.
