Report: UFC Long Island overnight ratings hit all-time low

Brad Penner / USA TODAY Sports

The summer of the UFC's discontent drags on.

Based on overnight ratings, Saturday's UFC on FOX 25 event drew a reported 1.64 million viewers, the lowest ever for the series, according to Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting.

The dubious record was previously held by UFC on FOX 24, which took place on April 15. Along with several pay-per-views that have reportedly underperformed in recent months (including UFC 213), this continues an ugly trend for the promotion in 2017.

It also marks a sharp drop off from last July's UFC on FOX 20 show headlined by Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko, which attracted 2.44 million viewers.

As noted by Meltzer, the overnight rating does not include major West Coast markets like Los Angeles and Las Vegas yet, and it was also greatly affected by the main event starting after 10 p.m. That means the Weidman-Gastelum bout - presumably the most-watched segment - was not factored into the East Coast ratings.

UFC on FOX 25 was still No. 1 in its time slot in the 18-49 demographic.
