Florida lands 4-star QB, former USC commit, Matt Corral

Logan Bowles / USA TODAY Sports

Former USC commit Matt Corral, a four-star quarterback recruit in the 2018 class, committed to Florida on Saturday, according to Tom Loy of 247 Sports.

"The quarterback situation is great," he said of his new team. "Malik Zaire will be there for a year and I'll have a shot after that. It'll be a competition and the best player will play. I'll have a shot to see the field and that's all I can ask."

At the moment, Corral would be on course to battle Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask, a couple of young pivots, for the starting job in 2018. Both will have been in Florida head coach Jim McElwain's system for multiple seasons by the time Corral arrives.

Corral, a native of Long Beach, Calif., backed out of his USC pledge on June 17 and immediately eyed Florida and Georgia as potential destinations.
