Report: Trade of Braves' Garcia stalled over Twins prospect's health

Jaime Garcia delivered his best performance of the season Friday night during a start that wasn't really supposed to happen.

The Atlanta Braves appeared on the verge of trading the left-hander to the Minnesota Twins earlier in the week, though talks stalled because the Braves were concerned about the medical report of Twins prospect Nick Burdi, a source told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Burdi underwent Tommy John surgery in May. Sources tell Rosenthal, however, that the teams are still trying to work out a deal involving alternatives.

The two teams looked to be finalizing a trade Thursday, but after a deal was not reached, the Braves opted to start Garcia on Friday night against the Los Angels Dodgers. Garcia would go on to allow three runs over seven innings to pick up the win, and also managed to belt his first career grand slam.

That performance may have heightened Garcia's appeal, as interest has reportedly increased to as many as eight teams, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
