FOX's Joel Klatt calls for Ole Miss players to have free transfers

As Ole Miss attempts to move on after the shocking resignation of head coach Hugh Freeze, media across the country are weighing in on what direction the program should take.

While a number of names have been discussed as potential head coach candidates, FOX Sports' Joel Klatt has the players in mind when discussing the next step.

"Every player on the Ole Miss roster should be able to transfer without penalty immediately," Klatt said.

A free transfer simply because the head coach resigned in the midst of a scandal would be a very odd decision from the NCAA, which will likely wait until the conclusion of its investigation into the program before deciding whether to allow free transfers.

It wouldn't be the first time the organization allowed transfers without penalty after sanctions. In 2012, a number of Penn State players took advantage after the program was hammered in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

NCAA rules usually force players to sit out for one season after transferring before becoming eligible the following campaign.
