White Sox acquire Lowe, Machi from Mariners

Less than a week after the Chicago White Sox pulled off a blockbuster trade with the New York Yankees involving Todd Frazier and David Robertson, they're making moves once again.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn and his front office negotiated a deal with the Seattle Mariners on Friday which will bring veteran relievers Mark Lowe and Jean Machi to Chicago, the team announced, according to James Fegan of The Athletic.

Seattle will receive cash in the deal, according to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune.

Both of Lowe and Machi will report to Triple-A.

The 34-year-old Lowe had not made an appearance in the big leagues this season, posting a 6.23 ERA and 1.77 WHIP with Triple-A Tacoma during 32 appearances. He last pitched in the majors for the Detroit Tigers in 2016, amassing a 7.11 ERA in 54 appearances.

Machi, 35, made five appearances out of the Mariners' bullpen in May, allowing seven hits in 7 2/3 innings, but limited opponents to one earned run.

The veteran has appeared in 194 games across five big-league seasons, going 13-2 with a 3.38 ERA.
