"He is young, he is offensive-minded and he comes with a lot of controversy," Finebaum said during a Friday appearance on "Sportscenter."
"I would bet against Lane for this particular job. I think he would really help a program but I think Ole Miss has dealt with way too much controversy and Lane Kiffin brings the circus wherever he goes."
Kiffin has certainly been controversial. He left Tennessee in a lurch after one season to take the job at USC, and the latter tenure ended dramatically with a firing at an airport. The 42-year-old then rehabilitated his image at Alabama, before jumping at the Florida Atlantic job in December.
Due to the ongoing NCAA investigation at Ole Miss, it's unlikely the school will be able to land a big-name coach, and if Finebaum's thoughts are correct, don't expect Kiffin to jump back into the SEC for the position.
