Georgia Southern's Seth Shuman: Focusing on baseball, stepping away from football team in 2017

Shuman will not play football in 2017 so that he can focus on his baseball career, Nathan Deen of Savannah Now reports.

Analysis:

His absence leaves a massive hole at quarterback for the Eagles after last year's quarterbacks, Kevin Ellison and Favian Upshaw, exhausted their eligibility. Shuman was selected by the Orioles in the 2016 MLB amateur draft and has opted to focus on his baseball career for at least this season. With that, Georgia Southern will have to turn to transfer Ellis Richardson, redshirt freshman Shai Werts, or junior Kado Brown to run the offense.
