Although he admits Tottenham was unlucky at times, Kyle Walker didn't have a lot to celebrate during his trophy-less career in north London.

It's part of the reason behind his desire for a change of scenery this summer when he made the switch to Manchester City after eight seasons at White Hart Lane.

A runner-up medal in the League Cup in 2015 and a second-place finish in the Premier League last term were the closest Walker got to winning a major honour.

But now, he's optimistic about the future as he gets set to join a City team with a winning pedigree.

"I am hoping with the world-class players we have here that we will go and lift a trophy, which is what I want to do in my career," he told Simon Stone of BBC Sport.

He added: "Sometimes (Tottenham) were unlucky. Sometimes we just didn't have that little bit of edge."

The chance to work with City manager Pep Guardiola was another driving factor behind his transfer, with Walker highlighting the world-class right-backs that have thrived under the Spanish gaffer.

"His name says it all. He worked with Dani Alves and all the top players at Barcelona, plus Philipp Lahm at Bayern Munich.

"It was an opportunity I could not turn down."
