Report: Manchester City to wrap up €30M deal for Madrid's Danilo

Manchester City is reportedly on the verge of signing a second right-back in less than a week.

Pep Guardiola's side has reached a €30-million agreement with Real Madrid to sign Danilo, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson.

Danilo could arrive at the Etihad just days after City's costly capture of Kyle Walker.

It would appear City has fought off the advances of Premier League champion Chelsea, who reportedly saw Danilo as a form of competition for Victor Moses.

Juventus briefly flirted with the 26-year-old before using its final non-EU slot for fellow Brazilian Douglas Costa.

Danilo is now expected to vie for minutes with Walker, as Guardiola beefs up his squad for a run at the Premier League title.

Madrid has held firm on its €30-million asking price, which is nearly what the capital club paid to acquire Danilo from Porto in 2015.

He struggled to supplant Dani Carvajal in Zinedine Zidane's starting lineup, making just 17 La Liga starts last season. In contrast, Danilo sat on the bench for a full 90 minutes on 15 separate occasions in league play.

Danilo can also play at left-back, although Guardiola could soon find a solution for that position in the form of Monaco standout Benjamin Mendy and Southampton's Ryan Bertrand. Both players have been linked with a move to Eastlands.

City would take its summer spending to an estimated £161 million with the signing of Danilo.
