Magic Johnson knows a thing or two (or 10,141) about assists, so when the Lakers legend praises another player's passing ability, you pay attention.

In the wake of No. 2 draft pick Lonzo Ball's standout performances at this year's summer league, the Lakers' president had some words about his young protege.

"Lonzo is special, no question about it, because he makes everybody better and he does something you can't teach: He gives you a scoring pass," Johnson explained to the media. "Very few point guards in this league can do that."

Ball averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game in his first taste of competitive action in a Lakers jersey, en route to capturing MVP honors for the Las Vegas Summer League. Magic thinks that veterans around the league are starting to pay attention to the electric 19-year-old point guard's elite passing potential.

"Of course free agents are excited. He makes the game easier for you. How many layups did (Kyle) Kuzma average per game (at summer league)? Three? Or dunks or layups a game? At least three. All you have to do is get out on the wing and it's there. Again, that's what you want. You want a guy who can make the game easy for you - a pass-first guy."
