Boos heard in Philly after Iverson sits out BIG3 game
Philadelphia 76ers fans were treated to a huge disappointment when the BIG3 league came through town on Sunday.
76ers legend Allen Iverson, who plays for team 3's Company, announced 25 minutes before tipoff that he would not play on account of advice from his doctor.
However, many fans were unaware until arriving at the arena, and the mood quickly soured inside of Wells Fargo Center as Iverson's glaring absence dawned on them.
Iverson was treated to a warm ovation as he was announced, but the player-coach spent the entire game on the sidelines directing his team.
Fans chanted, "We want AI" and "Do it for Philly", but Iverson wasn't moved, writes Teddy Bailey of Philly.com. A smattering of boos rang out as unhappy Sixers fans were robbed of a chance to see their former franchise player.
The lower bowl was packed before tipoff but had emptied out by halftime as it became apparent Iverson wasn't suiting up.
