Report: Dodgers confident they'll add one of Darvish, Gray, Verlander

The undisputed best team in baseball could be close to landing one of three marquee starters.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are increasingly confident they'll acquire either Yu Darvish, Sonny Gray, or Justin Verlander, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

In the wake of Clayton Kershaw's back injury, Darvish and Verlander have been heavily linked to the Dodgers in recent weeks, though one report suggested L.A. was no longer pursuing the Detroit Tigers veteran.

Darvish, meanwhile, can reportedly block a trade to 10 teams (Red Sox, Cubs, Orioles, Indians, Rockies, White Sox, Tigers, Athletics, Pirates, and Blue Jays), meaning a deal with Los Angeles could come to fruition.

Adding a starter of Darvish, Verlander, or Gray's caliber would further boost a talented but thin Dodgers rotation that has three starters - Brandon McCarthy, Scott Kazmir, and Kershaw - on the disabled list. It would also allow the club to ease Kershaw into action ahead of the postseason.

Of the three starters, Darvish is the only one slated to hit free agency at the end of the season. Verlander, who has no trade rights, is under contract until 2019 for a combined $56 million, and carries a $22-million vesting option for 2020. Gray, the youngest of the bunch, is under club control until 2020.
