Nationals place Strasburg on DL with arm injury

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker announced Wednesday that the club will place Stephen Strasburg on the 10-day disabled list with an arm injury, according to Jamal Collier of MLB.com.

Baker said he hopes Strasburg only misses one start, with top pitching prospect Erick Fedde called up to take his place in the rotation.

Strasburg was removed from Sunday's start against the Arizona Diamondbacks after just two innings due to arm stiffness.

The Nationals didn't believe Strasburg needed an MRI and Baker initially thought the three-time All-Star would be fine to take his turn in the rotation.
