After adding to their already impressive prospect pool in the very early hours of Wednesday morning, the Chicago White Sox decided it was time to call up the best of the best.

The club announced the promotion of top infield prospect Yoan Moncada following its blockbuster trade with the New York Yankees.

"We feel (Moncada) is ready for that next challenge that comes at the big-league level," general manager Rick Hahn said, according to CBS Chicago.

With third baseman Todd Frazier now in New York, Moncada will have the opportunity to play either the hot corner or second base, where he's started all 79 games in Triple-A this season.

He was acquired in the blockbuster deal that sent Chris Sale to Boston, and earned the right to a promotion after hitting .285/.381/.452 with 12 home runs, 36 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases across 79 games with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.

He appeared in eight major-league games in 2016 with the Red Sox, hitting .211/.250/.263.
