U.S. Women's Open contender Jeongeun6 Lee explains her name

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Jeongeun6 Lee sits in a tie for second place at 6-under par after the second round of the U.S. Women's Open, but her score isn't the six everyone's been talking about at Trump National Golf Club.

Lee, who's a member of the LPGA of Korea, is the sixth player to have the same name on that tour, and to help fans tell them apart, numbers were added at the end of each given name.

"So the '6' was added to my name, Jeongeun, because there are six different girls with the same name on KLPGA," Lee told ESPNW through a translator. "I'm the last one with the name Jeongeun, which gave me the '6.'"

The 21-year-old has won once this year on the KLPGA, and has embraced the unique name to the point of calling her fan club "Lucky Six" back home.
